Alchemy of the 21st Century

June 3rd, 2009 Posted in Unspecific

A poem on the magical arts of hackery

Port to port, IP to IP
Mac to mac the packet hops it’s way across the Internet.
Science to some, Magic to others
Passion to a few that live and breath the the technology.
Machine to machine
The data flows, gigabytes of Ones and Zeros ever second.
Control the packet, change the flow
Alchemy of the 21st century, the hacker meddles where few will go.
Byte by byte, bit by bit
Changing the underlying elements to produce new from old.
Science based on truths
None are absolute, as anything designed by man, faults to be found.
Protocol to flaw, layer by layer
Peel them back, examining each bit for design intention and use.
Design to use, protect from abuse
Nothing ever works solely as intended, bend the rules.
Black and white, grey all the way
Evil is not just a concept, but manifests itself in everything.
Black to crack, to infiltrate
The rustler and highway robber takes advantage of trust and laziness.
White is right, to protect
The knight is limited by an unwritten morality and code of ethics.
Grey all the way, to explore
The alchemist ventures forward, protecting and delving into knowledge.
Spagyric art, destroy to create
Striving and driving to derive the modern day technological Panacea.
